Hiring is broken at the signal layer. Candidates self-report skills. Recruiters cannot tell real from fake without spending a hiring manager's afternoon on every CV. Certifications are proxies. Referrals are networks. Neither is the thing they claim to represent.
The engineers who lose the most in this market are the self-taught ones, the bootcamp graduates, the career switchers, the people whose backgrounds do not come with a prestigious credential attached. Their skills have outrun their CV, and nobody can see it.
SkillBricks turns that signal-layer problem inside out. Every brick on a candidate wall is earned through a real scenario plus a live technical challenge in a real environment. The process is scored, not just the outcome. Recruiters see the wall first and the name second, and only after they have paid for the reveal.

Recruiters pay credits to reveal a candidate's identity. Before that, your name is not in search results, URLs, caches, or logs. Contact stays in-platform.
JD-driven roadmap
Every job description surfaces the candidates it matches plus the gaps between them and the role. Closing a gap moves you up the live ranking. Your wall is a plan, not just a record.
Wedge market
DevOps and SRE, first.
We are launching with a narrow wedge on purpose. Kubernetes, Linux, and cloud operations are where the gap between claimed skill and demonstrated skill is widest, which means a verified-skills product there is most useful first. Once the examiner, the agent, and the challenge library are proven, we extend.
- Self-taught engineers with two years of on-call but no prestigious graduate scheme stamp on their CV.

How we operate
Production-grade from day one.
Only features are MVP-limited
Observability, secrets management, backups, audit logging, mTLS between services, row-level security on every user-data table - all present at launch. Nothing is deferred until “later” on the operational side.
Self-hosted stack
Vault, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, PostHog, Unleash, and ArgoCD all run in our own cluster. No managed SaaS for secrets, observability, analytics, or feature flags.
Anonymous by default
Candidate names are never in URLs, cache keys, logs, or analytics events. Identity is revealed only when a recruiter spends a credit; messaging stays in-platform.
Building in public
Real numbers when they exist. No invented testimonials, no borrowed logos. The build log lives on our blog; follow it before you need the product.

- Who operates SkillBricks?
- SkillBricks is a product brand of Mockif LTD, a UK limited company. Mockif LTD is the legal entity, data controller, and the name on every invoice, DPA, and contract. SkillBricks is the product you sign up to, the domain, and the team behind the build.
- Where are you based?
- United Kingdom. Mockif LTD is registered with Companies House in England and Wales. Our primary infrastructure runs in Hetzner data centres in Germany; our development happens in the UK.
- Why DevOps and SRE first?
- Because claims-versus-evidence is at its widest there. A candidate can list "Kubernetes" on a CV after a tutorial or after two years on call. A short real-environment challenge separates the two in a way no certification does. Once the engine works here, we extend it.
- Are you venture-funded?
- Not at launch. SkillBricks is founder-built and bootstrapped. That is why production-grade infrastructure exists from day one rather than later: we are optimising for longevity, not a growth-at-all-costs runway.
- Do you publish real customer logos and numbers?
- Only when they are real. Until we can cite specific customers, tier distributions, and outcomes with consent, we say nothing. Fake social proof erodes the signal we are in business to create.
